My name is Brittany Blackmon and I'm currently living in Austin, Tx. I work for a company that is changing the way people interact with the Internet. I'm still speaking French and missing my favorite places in Paris. Working post grad is exciting and my days are full of new projects.
A little about me, France, and the Internet
I always knew I wanted to live in France. As a little girl in Ohio, I could already see myself there, and I knew that I would make it happen.
*I took my first web design class in 9th grade of high school. We focused on making hyperlinks and flashy text.
At 15, I went on a year exchange to Lyon, France. I learned to speak French during that year, made friends that I will never forget, and fell in love with the land of Gaul. Then I went back home where I would graduate high school and move to Boston.
*In 2005, I fell in love with writing on the Internets by starting this blog. I fell in love with working on the internets in Boston in 2006 at firstgiving.com.
At 20, I came back for round two. This experience would be very different from my first trip. For one, I was going to northern France where grey skies out number the blue. Secondly, I wasn't going to live there on my own, meaning that I had to find a place to live and sort out all the things that come with that. It wasn't as romantic as my 15yr old starry eyes had me remember. But none of the hard stuff really matters in the end because I'm hopelessly in love with this country.
Sometimes I realize how much following my dreams separates me from the people I love. It's makes my dreams that much more worth it and that much harder to follow. I'm constantly trying to find my way in this world. Sometimes none of it is really easy, but I subscribe to the idea that it is all worth it in the end. I'm an optimist.
I like speaking French, learning about the internets (communicating on the internets), watching people from cafe terraces, and taking pictures with old polaroid cameras. I love adventures and try to go on them as often as possible.
